Tell us a bit about your background?

I studied at Cardonald College for 2 years and received an HNC in Computing and an HND in Inter-Networking. I then studied at Glasgow Caledonian University for 1 year and graduated with a BSc with Distinction in Networking and Computer Support. I began working for Controlled Therapeutics in May 2007. Previously I spent some time working in the IT department at Strathclyde Police. During my time there I worked on a project that upgraded all the PCs used by the Force.

What attracted you to Controlled Therapeutics?

My main attraction was the size of the company. I wanted to work for a small company as I felt I would get more opportunites of gaining hands-on experience that I might not have got at a larger company. The benefits offered by the company are also excellent, especially the flexible working hours.

What is your role at the company?

I work as the IT Support Officer providing IT Support to the staff at Controlled Therapeutics. As well providing support to staff I also help the ITC Manager with tasks such as user and email account administration and managing our backups. I was also played a part in the re-designing of our website.

What do you like about the work that you do?

I like the fact the job requires skills from different areas of IT. In a single day you might need to be a support officer, a network administrator, and a web developer...and that's before lunch! The problem-solving element to the job is something I enjoy as well. Finding solutions to issues you've not come across before brings great satisfaction.
