Tell us a bit about your background?

I studied at Paisley University as a Medicinal Chemist and graduated with a BSc Honours in Medicinal Chemistry in July 2006. As part of my university course I had the opportunity to undertake a 10-week industrial placement. I chose to do this placement within the Analytical Development department here at Controlled Therapeutics.

What attracted you to Controlled Therapeutics?

The reason I chose Controlled Therapeutics was to further my existing knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry as I was keen to find out the processes of taking a product from the early development stage right through to the final stage of getting it on the market.

What is your role at the company?

My role at Controlled Therapeutics is as an Analytical Scientist, which involves developing and validating testing methods for new products as well as stability testing and analysis of clinical samples.

What do you like about the work that you do?

The most enjoyable part of my job is the fact that it is not repetitive, there is a lot of variation and the opportunity to work on a cross section of projects. This is the advantage of being part of a smaller company as you get exposure to the different areas of the pharmaceutical industry such as regulatory affairs and clinical trials.
