| Janet
attended Heriot Watt School of Pharmacy where she graduated
in Pharmacy in 1985 with First class honours.
Janet
carried out pre-registration with Sterling Winthrop
and was appointed to the role of formulation scientist
working on tablets, capsules and oral liquids. She then
studied for PhD at University of Strathclyde in pharmaceutics
in the formulation of metered dose inhaler suspensions
in conjunction with Glaxo Welcome.
Janet
joined CT as a bench formulation scientist where she
worked on solid dosage forms initially, transferring
over to work on hydrogels and was intimately involved
in scale up and process development for Cervidil, having
overall responsibility for manufacturing the launch
supplies. Janet was involved in FDA audits and partnership
visits with Forest, Ferring and Zeneca and has since
worked on development projects both in partnership with
other companies (Fisons, PowderJect, Britannia,) on
powders and hydrogel projects and on CT led hydrogel
projects. Janet is responsible for directing work leading
to new IP on transmucosal delivery, new polymers and
new loading approaches and also involved in examining
both 'in licensing' and 'out licensing ' opportunities.
Janet
is a past Chairperson of the local branch of the Professional
Body of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society and a past
presenter at British Pharmaceutical Conference, Controlled
Release Society meetings, BIO2002, BIA Thistle conference
2003 and Department of Trade and Industry conference
2004.
Janet
is currently an elected member of RPSGB Industrial Pharmacist
Group committee and a Member of the Academy of Pharmaceutical
Sciences and Controlled Release Society.
